Description
The buildings at 11 and 12 Church Street are a house dating from the 18th century, although incorporating an earlier structure. They are distinguished by an ashlar facade with a half-hipped stone slate roof. The building has a double-fronted design, featuring flush-chamfered mullion windows. The upper floor has two 3-light windows, while the lower floor combines 2-light and 3-light windows, all with dripstones. A door is centrally located on the left side, set within a cyma-moulded flush surround. A moulded eaves cornice runs along the top of the building, beneath which is an unusual band of pilaster capitals, numbering 6½ in total. These capitals, of a 17th century Baroque style with reversed scrolls, are believed to have been introduced around 1900 during repairs and originated from Bowden Park. A north-east rear corner stack is present. A rear wing extends from the main building, with a ridge stack and a single range of three 3-light mullion windows on its east wall. Some timber framing is visible in the north-west corner's end gable. Number 12, adjacent to 11, has 1½ storeys and incorporates Bridgwater tiles. It has two sloping dormers, ground floor casement windows, and a door on the right side, with an east side stack.
