Description

LACOCK EAST STREET ST 9168 (east side) 4/74 No 15 GV II

House and yard, early to mid C19 on earlier core, squared rubble stone with ashlar crossings and slate roofs. Main range is 2- storey 3-window with flush quoins, apparently rebuilt after stable range to left. Twelve-pane sashes to upper windows and ground floor left, centre door with overlight and shop front to right with door and paired 9-pane windows. Decorative pierced cast-iron grille over. Rear wing north side is rubble stone with c1700 two- light cyma-moulded recessed mullion windows and hood moulds, 2 to ground floor one in former gable above. Yard to left has lower, 2-storey front with roof hipped to north, two 2-light Tudor-style mullion windows to first floor, one to ground floor left, all with hood moulds, and broad elliptical-arched coach-entry to right with hood mould. Double doors. Windows have leaded lights. Red brick rear wall. On far side of service court a red brick 2-storey range with 2 cambered-head upper windows. Said to have been butcher's shop with slaughterhouse in adjacent yard.
