Description

Nos 16 and 17 on East Street are a pair of houses dating from the late 16th century or early 17th century. They are constructed from rubble stone and topped with a stone slate roof. The buildings stand tall at 2½ storeys and feature a three-window range with chamfered recessed mullion windows and hood moulds. There are three dormer gables, each with original barge boards and 2-light windows, although the centre window has been blocked. On the first floor, there are a mix of window types: a 3-light window, followed by two 2-light windows. The ground floor includes a 20th-century door and a matching 2-light window, with the centre originally being a 2-light window in a former door opening, which has a timber lintel. The buildings also have two gabled rear wings, each with ridge and end stacks.
