Description

No. 107 Gloucester Street is a house and shop, now functioning solely as a house. It dates from the mid-19th century, with a front range built of limestone ashlar, while the sides and rear are rendered, and the rear wing is made of coursed squared limestone rubble. The roof is covered with Welsh slate, except for the rear wing, which has concrete tiles. There are various stacks: a brick stack on the left end, a stone stack on the right end, and a brick ridge stack on the rear wing.

The building has three storeys and a cellar, featuring a three-window range. The first floor displays three 19th-century plate glass sash windows set in moulded stone shouldered architraves, which have large keystones supporting a band course above. The cills are ummoulded and supported on brackets. The second floor has three similar windows above. The ground floor features a simple 19th-century shopfront that continues to form the surround to a carriage entrance on the left. This includes three stone pilasters and a timber fascia with a moulded cornice spanning the full width of the building. An opening to the basement in the stall riser has a 19th-century ornamental wrought-iron grille. The carriage entrance on the left has a pair of plank doors with open panels filled with iron bars, and a similar panel forms the overlight above. The building also has rusticated quoins at the left and right angles and a debased modillion eaves cornice. The two-storey gabled rear wing features 19th-century timber casement windows in plain reveals. The interior has not been inspected.
