Description
This cottage, located at 97 Gloucester Street in Cirencester, dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, which is now painted, and features a stone slate roof with brick stacks at the ridge and left end. The building is two stories high and has a two-window range. On the first floor, there are two old two-light leaded casements with exposed timber lintels, while the ground floor has two 19th-century two-light timber casements, also with exposed timber lintels. The center of the ground floor features a plank door with an exposed timber lintel. The cottage has a shallow plinth, and the rear elevation includes additional old leaded casements, possibly from the 18th century.
Inside, the interior is very simple with some 20th-century alterations. It features plank doors with old ironmongery throughout and a closed well staircase. The roof is a common rafter type from the late 18th century to early 19th century.
