Description
No. 21 High Street is a house that dates from the mid-18th century but features a refronting of a 17th century or earlier range. It is constructed of rubble stone and has a stone slate roof. The building is two storeys high and has a three-window arrangement with cyma-moulded recessed mullion windows, including a combination of three-light, two-light, and three-light windows above. The ground floor on the left has a three-light window with a moulded cornice, while the right side features an early 19th century projecting shop window with twenty-seven panes, topped with a stone slate roof that extends over the centre six-panel door. Inside, the right side has a heavy joisted ceiling with a chamfered and stopped spine beam. The left side includes a Tudor-arched rear fireplace, which has been largely renewed, and 18th century panelling around the window seat. On the first floor, there is a bolection-moulded fireplace with a shelf on the left side.
