Description
Chamberlain's House is a late medieval house constructed of rubble stone and timber frame, featuring a renewed side wall stack. It has two storeys, with a crosswing on the left. The ground floor of the crosswing is made of rubble stone, while the upper floor has exposed framing. The east front door is located under a jettied first floor, with all studding renewed. It has a leaded triple casement window.
On the south side, facing High Street, there are 8-pane ground floor windows on each side in beaded surrounds, along with a former door that has been converted into a window to the right of centre. The first floor retains original framing, with a pair of leaded casements to the left and a triple casement to the right. To the right of the crosswing, the east front is made of rubble stone and features a 12-pane window above a high moulded plinth to the left, and a 20th-century window in a dormer gable above. To the right, there is a ridge stack, a large Tudor-arched recessed doorway leading to a through passage on the ground floor, and a boarded loading door above. The interior has not been inspected.
