Description
The Lock Up is a late 18th century village lock-up. It is constructed of ashlar stone and has a square plan.
The building features coursed ashlar walls with a low plinth and a band at cornice level, topped by a domed ashlar roof with a ball finial. There are two buttresses on the north side, and to the west, the lock-up is connected to the adjacent tithe barn by a wall that includes a timber door providing access to the lock-up.
The door is adorned with iron studs and thick straps with decorative ends, leading into a small flagged yard that is covered with an iron grille. Inside, the studded door to the lock-up has a chamfered surround. The interior contains a lavatory and a modern timber bed. The lock-up does not have windows but features a high ventilation hole.
