Description
Nos 4 and 5 East Street are a pair of houses dating from the 17th century. They are constructed with a combination of timber-frame and red brick, featuring a rubble stone base. The houses have a stone slate roof with a central ridge stack and are one and a half storeys tall.
The left half of the pair has a timber-frame structure above a rubble plinth, displaying square framing with one angle brace. It features two eaves dormer gables, each with triple casements. The ground floor has a door flanked by pairs of casement windows on both sides.
The right half has been refronted in rubble stone and includes one similar dormer gable with a triple casement to the left, above paired 8-pane sashes. The right side has a wall built up at the first floor with a sloping roof and a 20th-century window. The ground floor features a door in a chamfered surround and a 12-pane sash window. The interior has not been inspected.
