Description
Nos 6 and 7 High Street are a pair of houses that date from the 16th century or earlier. They are timber-framed with red brick panels set on a rubble stone plinth and feature a stone slate roof with a central ridge stack. The buildings are two storeys high and display exposed framing with curved tension braces. On the first floor, there are two triple casement windows and one pair of casements. The ground floor includes a triple casement window, a door leading to No 6, another triple casement window, and a door to No 7. The interiors have not been inspected. There is evidence suggesting that the entire south side of High Street may have originally been constructed as a single build in the 14th or early 15th century, based on known cruck-framed houses and the roof-line.
