Description
Little Nicholls is a house built around the 1830s, with later extensions added in the 19th century. It is constructed of red brick and features a Welsh slate roof with gabled ends, corbelled brick eaves, and a lead roll along the ridge. The house has brick stacks at both gable ends.
The layout consists of a 3-bay structure with a central entrance and a rear outshut, which was extended by one bay on the right (east) side in the late 19th century. The exterior is two storeys high, with a symmetrical 3-bay south front that includes 16-pane sash windows, a 12-pane sash window in the center of the first floor, and cambered brick arches above the windows. The central doorway features a pilastered doorcase, although the canopy or porch has been removed.
To the right, there is a set-back 1-bay extension with a lower roof and casement windows. At the rear, the roof extends down as a catslide over a 2-storey outshut, which also has casement windows and a brick stack on the west end.
