Description
Old Cottage is a 17th-century cottage that has undergone later additions and alterations. It features a half-timbered design with painted brick infilling set on a sandstone plinth, topped with a machine-tiled roof. The building is one storey high with a dormer slit attic and consists of three structural bays, along with a blocked cross passage. The exterior includes square panelling and one short tension brace, while the windows are primarily 19th and 20th century casements, with a small window illuminating the staircase. There are two 20th-century gabled dormers in the roof slope, and the entrance is located at the rear through a 20th-century addition, which also includes two 20th-century brick end stacks. Inside, the cottage retains the cross passage with remnants of a former staircase, and the timber framing is largely intact.
