Description

This is a headstone dedicated to Anna Ward, who was the wife of Thomas Ward and died in 1767. It is made of sandstone and is located about four meters south of the Church of St. Chad. The headstone features a moulded, curved top with a crudely carved face of a winged angel and intertwined leaf decoration above the inscription. The lower part of the inscription reads: "Afflictions Sore Long time I bore/ Physicians were in vain/ Till God was pleased to give me ease/ And freed me from my pain."
