Description
Two headstones, dated 1749 and 1747, are located 3 metres to the north of the nave and resting against the north wall of the Church of St Martin and St Giles. One headstone commemorates Anne Ward, who died in 1749. It is made of slate and features a shouldered round head with inscriptions in upper and lower case lettering that includes serifs. The other headstone is for Ann Charnley, who died in 1747. This slate headstone also has a shouldered round head, which is decorated with an incised angel's head. Both headstones are set against the north wall of the church.
