Description

North Lodge and garden wall to the front of Werrington Park, built around the late 19th century, is constructed from ashlar snecked stone with a moulded granite plinth and banded yellow brick dressings. The building features a steeply pitched slate roof with gable ends on the crosswing at both the front and rear, as well as on the right side. It has brick axial stacks. The lodge has a 'T' shaped plan, with the crosswing on the left projecting to the front and rear, and a single room on the right. The entrance is located on the right side of the front projection of the crosswing, near the junction with the right range. A lean-to outshut was added in the 20th century in the angle between the rear part of the crosswing and the right range.

In terms of style, the lodge is Gothic. The exterior is a single storey with an asymmetrical window arrangement. It features a granite moulded plinth and banded yellow brick dressings, with polychrome brickwork around the window surrounds. The entrance is at the angle between the left crosswing and the right range, accessed through a diagonally set 19th-century timber open-fronted porch with a segmental arch and an inner panelled door. To the right of the entrance is a 19th-century four-pane sash window. The gable ends on the front left and right sides have six-pane sashes with granite lintels and polychrome tiles in the pointed arches above. The 19th-century wavy bargeboards are partly pierced with cusped patterns and feature a central pendant and finial. The garden walls to the front and left side, dating from the mid-19th century, are made of stone rubble with saddle-back brick coping. The interior contains 19th-century fixtures and fittings.
