Description

Jays Cottage is a 17th-century cottage that has been altered and extended in the 20th century. It features a timber-framed structure with brick infill and a sandstone plinth, topped with a tiled roof. Originally, it was a straight range of two framed bays, with an additional bay added to the east gable. There is an outshut at the rear and a former external stack with a detached shaft on the west gable, where the entry is located. The cottage is a single storey with an attic, which is lit by 20th-century dormers at the rear. It has three 2-light casements. The framing is partly removed, with V-struts visible at the west gable end and weather planking at the lintels.
