Description

Chelmer House, located at No. 29 High Street in Henley-in-Arden, is a pair of houses built around 1810 with later alterations. The structure is made of painted brick and features a gabled Welsh slate roof with brick coped gables, two courses of red tiles at the ridge, and a brick end stack at the rear of the ridge.

The exterior is two stories high, with a plat band over the ground floor and a top modillioned brick cornice. Each end of the building has an entrance with a doorcase that includes a fretted frieze and a dentilled pediment. The entrance to No. 27 (on the left) retains its original architrave and a six-flush-panel door, two panels of which are glazed. In contrast, No. 29 has a 20th-century panelled door set within a renewed architrave.

On the ground floor, there are two canted bay windows with cornices above, featuring 20th-century glazing. The first floor has four windows with sills and painted stucco wedge lintels above 20th-century small-paned casements, with the left window set in an architrave. The interior has not been inspected.
