Description

Flower Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, located on Chapel Street in Welford-on-Avon. It features a timber-frame structure with painted brick infill and additional painted brick sections. The house has a steeply pitched thatched roof, with tiles on the rear wings, and includes a brick stack at the front ridge and an end stack.

The layout consists of three units, with the central unit being timber-framed and the left unit having a convex shape. There are two gabled wings at the rear. The exterior is single-storey with an attic and has a three-window range. The entrance, positioned to the right of center, features a plank door and a gabled rustic porch. The left end has a two-light casement window with an iron opening casement and a brick projection to the right, while the right end has a similar three-light casement window. Above the entrance, there is a half-dormer with a two-light leaded casement. The framing is square with braced tie beams and wall plates.

The right side of the house facing the street has ground floor windows with single- and two-light 20th-century casements, and two first-floor windows with two-light 20th-century casements. The rear of the house has lower gabled wings, one of which has a cross-axial stack.

Inside, the cottage is noted for its chamfered beams and a large fireplace with a bressumer.
