Description
Magpie Cottage is a house located in Welford-on-Avon, dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with a 19th-century addition. The building features a timber frame with painted brick infill and a brick wing, topped by a steeply pitched half-hipped thatched roof with a brick stack at the rear of the ridge. The layout is L-shaped, with the front section on the left.
The exterior is single-storey plus attic and has a two-window range. The timber-framed center is flanked by brick sections that project forward. The entrance, located to the right of the center, has a 20th-century door with a moulded door frame. The windows in the center and left have 20th-century leaded casements, and there is a similar window in the central half-hipped dormer. The right gable end facing the street shows some timber framing and has 20th-century windows on each floor. The rear of the cottage has exposed framing with thin scantlings and 20th-century windows, including similar windows in the right wing, which features an elliptical-headed window in the gable. The interior has not been inspected.
