Description

The barn immediately north of Manor Farmhouse is a building that has been converted into a dwelling. It dates from the mid to late 18th century, with early 19th and 20th-century additions. The structure features a timber frame with brick infill and weatherboarding set on a rubble plinth, along with brick elements, partly on a rubble plinth, for the additions. The roof is gabled and covered with tiles, some of which have been replaced.

On the exterior, the barn has a gable facing the front to the left and consists of six bays, along with a stable and a two-bay 19th-century addition, plus a further 20th-century addition. The barn is primarily weatherboarded, with some brick infill. There is an entrance to the threshing floor located to the right of the center, featuring split paired doors, and paired doors to the right. Additionally, there are two 20th-century windows on the left end and a split door on the right end.

Inside the stable, there is a cobbled floor with timber partitions, exposed wattle on the partition wall, and tension braces on the former end wall. The two-bay brick addition has a wide entrance with high windows, and an external stair leads to a first-floor door; there is also a door beneath the stair with a stop-chamfered frame. The end addition includes a window and a first-floor door accessed by an external stair.

The rear of the building is weatherboarded, with some brick infill on the left end; the addition features an entrance and flanking windows. The right side facing the street has a plaque commemorating Ethel Roberts, who passed away in 1982, as a local resident.

Inside, the barn contains two timber-framed cross walls. The interior features exposed queen post and collar trusses with braced tie beams, with principals truncated at the collars and double purlins, all of which are rough sawn and pegged. There is some evidence of fire damage.
