Description
Cress Farmhouse is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the late 18th century, with an early 18th-century rear wing and 19th-century alterations and additions. It is constructed of brick laid in English bond, with the rear wing featuring a timber frame and brick infill. The roof is hipped and covered with tiles, and there are brick stacks at the front of the ridge and at the ends.
The building is two storeys high and has a three-window range. A top dentiled brick cornice runs along the top. The entrance is flanked by two bay windows, each with hipped roofs. The first floor features windows with two-light leaded casements. The right side of the building is rendered, with a recessed angle to the right.
At the rear, there is a gabled wing on the right with a large external end stack and another stack at the recessed left end. The entrance, located to the left of centre, has a hipped canopy and a 20th-century door, flanked by segmental-headed windows with two-light casements. There is a similar window to the right of centre and another on the first floor. The wing has an entrance with a 20th-century door, a window to the right with a 20th-century casement, and a window above with a two-light small-paned casement, featuring square framing. The interior has not been inspected.
