Description
Brook Farm is a farmhouse, now a house, that dates from the mid-17th century with alterations and additions from the mid-18th century and early 19th century. It was restored in the late 20th century. The building features part timber framing with painted brick infill, and it has been partly rebuilt and extended in brick, with the entrance elevation rendered. The roofs are plain tiled, and there is a brick external stack to the left of the entrance elevation as well as a large brick ridge stack on the rear wing.
The structure is two storeys high with a cellar and has a partly dentilled eaves cornice. It is arranged in an L-plan, with a 19th-century entrance front that has three bays and a two-bay wing to the rear left. The entrance front includes three windows with glazing bar sashes, a nine-pane window on the first floor, and a central entrance featuring glazed double doors. Some timber framing remains visible in the left gable end and rear wing, primarily consisting of four panels from the sill to the wall-plate and a long straight brace on the first floor of the left gable end. To the rear right of the main part, there is an out-shut that contains the current main entrance, and above it on the wall is a plaster oval wreath with an erased central decoration.
Inside, there are back-to-back fireplaces in the rear wing, including one large inglenook.
