Description
Eardiston Place is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the early 17th century with alterations and additions made in the mid-19th century. The building is timber-framed with rendered infill, brick refacing, and replacement walling, topped with plain tiled roofs. It has a T-plan layout, consisting of a main part with three framed bays aligned northeast to southwest, featuring a central chimney bay with two diagonal 19th-century ridge stacks that form a lobby entrance. There is also an external chimney at the northeast gable end and a rear central wing with two framed bays. The house is two storeys high with an attic that includes dormers, and it displays a dentilled eaves cornice and pierced scalloped bargeboards.
The framing is visible on the rear main part and in the rear wing, with six panels from the sill to the wall-plate and short straight upper corner braces on the rear main part. The wing has four panels from the sill to the wall-plate, and the roof has been raised. The southeast front elevation features outer bays with ground and first floor 16-pane sash windows that have moulded architraves and cambered heads. There are large gabled dormers with attic lights, a central first floor cross-casement, and a central entrance with a flat canopy, pilasters, double doors that have upper raised and fielded panels, and a traceried fanlight. The interior has not been inspected.
Adjoining the southwest gable end is a large former outbuilding that is two storeys high and features a dentilled eaves cornice. It has three bays, with the southeast elevation displaying a ground floor 3-light and a 2-light casement, both with cambered heads, as well as two 2-light and a 3-light casement on the first floor. There is also a ledged and battened door with a cambered head to the right. Additionally, there is a single-storey and attic addition on the southwest side of the rear central wing.
