Description
New House is a house built around 1820, with alterations and additions made in the mid-20th century. It is constructed of brick with ashlar dressings and features a shallow-pitched hipped Welsh slate roof with broad eaves and rebuilt stacks at the rear. The house has three storeys and a cellar, with three bays. The windows are adorned with stepped rusticated voussoirs and stone sills; the outer bays contain 16-pane sash windows on the ground and first floors, and 8-pane sashes on the second floor. The central bay features a 12-pane sash on the first floor and a 6-pane sash on the second floor. The central entrance is highlighted by a moulded flat canopy supported by chamfered timber posts, flanked by fluted pilasters, and includes a door with five raised and fielded panels, panelled reveals, and a traceried fanlight. Inside, the central hall has an open well staircase. There are 20th-century single-storey additions to the side elevations and a lean-to addition at the rear.
