Description

Moor Farmhouse, now offices, was built in the mid-18th century and altered and extended in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of brick with plain tiled roofs, some hipped and others with gable end parapets, and features large brick ridge stacks. The house has a traditional H-shaped layout and includes an attic and a cellar. A chamfered plinth and a two-course band mark the levels of the right wing.

The east front has a central two-bay section, with windows featuring gauged flat heads. The right bay incorporates a hipped-roofed, full-height stair wing, housing a cross-casement and a two-light casement at landing level. The left bay has a first-floor cross-casement, a gabled dormer with a two-light casement, and a porch with a flat roof concealed behind a parapet. Glazed double doors are topped by a multi-paned fanlight. The gable end windows on the left wing have cambered heads, containing a three-light casement to the ground and first floors, and a cross-casement at attic level. Also present is a three-light casement visible from the angle with the central part. The gable end of the right wing has a ground and first floor twelve-pane sash window, with gauged flat heads and moulded architraves.

Inside the central section, a staircase with a dog-leg design, turned balusters, and a moulded handrail dates back to the 18th century. A mid-19th century, hipped-roofed, single-storey canted bay adjoins the left side elevation. The house is situated on a former moated site, and a remnant of the moat, specifically the north-east corner, remains.
