Description

Lock Keeper's Cottage, built around 1830, shows mid-20th century alterations. The cottage is constructed of brick with blue brick detailing, topped with a slate roof and brick stacks on the side elevations. It is two storeys high, with a decorative band separating the floors. A full-height, canted bay window sits centrally, flanked by lower, single-storey hipped wings. The front elevation is symmetrical, with all windows featuring curved heads and multi-paned casements. Long, narrow side windows are present on both storeys of the central section. A central first-floor window has two panes, and below it is a 20th-century half-glazed door; the side wings are marked by quoins at their ends and have two-paned windows. The interior has not been inspected. A two-storey wing connects to the rear of the central section on the left side.
