Description
Sefton Cottage is a house dating to the 17th century, with additions from the 19th and 20th centuries, and a rear range. The construction is timber-frame with painted brick infill on the front, brick to the left, and timber-frame to the attic. It has a renewed tile roof, a brick end stack, a rear stack, and a stack to the rear of the ridge. The house follows a double-depth plan.
The exterior is single-storey with an attic, and has a four-window front. The entrance, to the left of centre, has a 20th-century battened door and a lean-to canopy. Segmental-headed windows to the left, with sills, feature three-light leaded casements with iron opening mechanisms. To the right, there are larger and smaller windows with similar three-light and two-light leaded casements. The attic has windows set within gablets, with two-light leaded casements; one window to the right of centre is larger. Square framing is visible to the right of the entrance, and small square panels are in the attic. The left return is of painted stucco, and the right return has square framing, two gables, and 20th-century windows. The rear of the property includes 20th-century additions. The interior was not inspected during the listing process.
