Description
Church Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid 17th century, with a mid 18th century extension at the front. It is constructed from ironstone ashlar and squared, coursed ironstone, featuring a plinth, storey band, and coped gables at the front. The roof is made of slate and stone slate, with brick end stacks, one of which retains its original stone base. The building has two storeys plus an attic at the front and two storeys at the rear, with a three-window range in an L-plan layout.
At the center of the front is a six-panelled door with an overlight. Flanking the door are 12-pane casements, all of which have lintels with keyblocks. On the first floor, there are 24-pane casements to the left and right, and a 16-pane casement in the center, all featuring chamfered wood lintels. The roof has 19th-century gabled dormers on either side.
The rear of the 17th-century range has a blocked three-light mullioned window with a hood mould and label stop. To the right, there is a further casement inserted into the opening of a mullioned window, with the original surround, hood mould, and label stops still visible. There is also a blocked opening on the left facade, which retains its hood mould and label stops. An outbuilding range, now used as a kitchen, is attached to the rear and includes a dovecote in the gable end, along with two four-light mullioned windows featuring hood moulds and an old plank door. The interior has not been inspected.
