Description

Bilton Cottage is a 17th-century cottage located in Oxhill. It was rendered to the front and gable end, likely covering stone, with squared, coursed ironstone and small panel timber framing to the rear, set on a plinth. The roof is thatched, with a brick ridge and end stack. The cottage is one storey high with an attic, featuring a two-window front. It has a two-unit plan. A 20th-century plank door is centrally located under a 20th-century hood. There are two 19th-century two-light casement windows to the left and right, the one on the right having a wooden lintel, and a further small light to the far left. Two 19th-century three-light casement windows are situated beneath the roof line on both sides. A small, one-storey brick range is attached to the right. Inside, the cottage has small panel framed partitions, a chamfered spine beam with run-out stops, and a large open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer.
