Description

This is a milepost, possibly from the early 20th century, made of cast iron. It has a triangular shape with an inclined head that is set about 500 millimeters above the ground. The front of the milepost is inscribed with the name "WHISTON." The left side features distances to several locations: "FROGHALL 1/2," "CHEADLE 3 1/2," "HANLEY 10," "STOKE 11," and "NEWCASTLE 12 1/2." The right side indicates a distance to "ASHBOURNE 11 1/4."
