Description

This is a milepost, possibly from the early 20th century, made of cast iron. It has a triangular shape with an inclined head that is set about 500 millimeters above the ground. The front of the milepost is inscribed with the word "CELLARHEAD." The left side features distances to various locations: "BUCKNALL 3¾ / HANLEY 5 / STOKE 6 / LEEK 6½ / NEWCASTLE 7½." The right side lists distances to "FROGHALL 4½ / CHEADLE 4¾ / ASHBOURNE 16½."
