Description

This is a milepost, possibly from the early 20th century, made of cast iron. It has a triangular shape with an inclined head set about 600 millimeters above the ground. The left side is inscribed with 'WERRINGTON' and the distances to various locations: 'BUCKNALL 2¾', 'HANLEY 4', 'STOKE 5', and 'NEWCASTLE 6½'. The right side displays the distances to 'FROGHALL 5½', 'CHEADLE 5¾', and 'ASHBOURNE 17¼'.
