Description

This is a milepost from the early 19th century made of cast iron. It has a triangular shape with an inclined head that is set about 600 millimeters above the ground. The head is inscribed with the name "MARCHINGTON," while the left (east) face displays the distances to various locations: "MARCHINGTON/4½/SUDBURY 4 3/4 /UTTOXETER 8." The right face indicates the distance to "BURTON 6."
