Description
Farmhouse. Built in the early 19th century, it was rebuilt around an earlier core, with later 19th and 20th century alterations. Constructed of red brick, the farmhouse has a hipped roof covered with blue machine tiles and ridge stacks to the rear. It is arranged in an L-shape. The main three-storey block has a three-window front. Around 1918, casement windows with concrete lintels replaced earlier sash windows. The bays are defined by giant brick pilaster strips rising to round-arch heads, with a brick string course running through the impost levels. There is a central entrance with a small-pane surround above a 20th-century part-glazed door. A lower two-window wing is set back to the left, with a 20th-century lean-to in the return angle, featuring a large French casement. Inside, the rear rooms have chamfered beams with cyma recta stops. Two bricks to the rear are dated 1777. The farmhouse, together with associated outbuildings (not included in this listing), forms a complete group typical of those built for the Duchy of Lancaster estates in the area; similar examples include Coulters Hill and Hanbury Park Farm, dated 1836.
