Description

This is a milepost located against the south-west pier of Froghall Bridge, possibly dating from the early 20th century. It is made of cast iron and has a triangular plan. The inclined head of the milepost is set approximately 500 millimeters above ground level. The front is inscribed with the name "FROGHALL," while the left side lists distances to various locations: "IPSTONES 2," "ONECOTE 6," "LEEK 8 3/4," "WARSLOW 9 1/4," "LONGNOR 13 1/2," and "BUXTON 19." The right side indicates the distance to "CHEADLE 3."
