Description

This is a milepost located on the west side of High Street in Ipstones, likely dating from the early 20th century. It is made of cast iron and has a triangular shape. The inclined head of the milepost is set approximately 700mm above ground level. It features inscriptions that read "IPSTONES" on the front, with distances to various locations: "ONECOTE 4 / LEEK 6 3/4 / WARSLOW 7 1/4 / LONGNOR 11 1/2 / BUXTON 17 1/2" on the left side, and "FROGHALL 2 / CHEADLE 5" on the right side.
