Description

This is a milepost, likely from the early 20th century, made of cast iron. It has a triangular shape with an inclined head positioned about 500mm above the ground. The front of the milepost is inscribed with the name "WHISTON." The left side features distances to Froghall (1.5 miles), Cheadle (4.5 miles), Hanley (11 miles), Stoke (12 miles), and Newcastle (13.5 miles). The right side indicates a distance of 10.25 miles to Ashbourne.
