Description

Gate Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1624, with minor alterations made in the mid-19th century. The building is constructed of dressed and squared stone with a tiled roof, verge parapets on corbelled kneelers, a brick end stack to the left, and a cruciform ridge stack located behind the entrance. It is a single-storey and attic farmhouse with a long, three-window front. A gabled dormer is positioned slightly to the right of centre and contains a datestone. A two-light mullioned casement window is present; similar windows are located on the ground floor, positioned centrally and to the right, and are labelled. A miniature window is situated at the left end, beyond the entrance, which features a very heavy Tudor-arch lintel and a 20th-century glazed door.
