Description
No. 1 Swan Hill is a house, now used for commercial purposes, dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of brick and has a plain tiled roof. The building stands three storeys high with attics and features a four-window range, with the entrance located to the left of the centre. The doorway is framed by a moulded doorcase that has a projecting canopy supported by console brackets, and there is a lozenge traceried overlight above the door. On either side of the entrance are flush-framed 15-pane sash windows, which have moulded cases and flat-arched finely gauged brick heads. A projecting string course runs along the building. The upper windows are 18-pane sashes, also with flat-arched heads. The roofline is accentuated by a heavy projecting modillion eaves cornice, and there are two pedimented dormer windows in the roof.
