Description
11 College Hill is a house dating from the late 16th century or early 17th century, with a later 18th-century brick facade. It is timber-framed with a plain tiled roof and has three storeys. The main elevation features a three-window arrangement with a central six-panelled door set within a reeded architrave, supported by moulded consoles beneath an entablature, and has panelled rebates. The flanking windows are four-pane sashes with flat-arched gauged brick heads. There is a rear wing that is slightly shorter in height, and gable end stacks are present. This layout reflects the original design of the building. Inside, there is a central staircase with turned balusters that rises the full height of the house, and a deep projecting panelled chimneypiece in the left-hand room. Much of the original framing, including the roof trusses, is still intact and partly visible on the rear elevation.
