Description
No. 2 Union Street is a house dating from the 18th century, with refacing from the mid- to late-19th century. It features a timber frame with painted brick nogging, rendered at the front, and has a coursed limestone rubble end wall on the right, topped by a slate roof. The structure consists of two framed bays and stands two storeys tall, with integral brick end stacks. The front has two windows, which are mid- to late-19th century two-light casements, and a central four flush-panelled door that is framed by a fluted pilastered surround and a bracketed hood. At the rear, there is a single-storey lean-to added in the 20th century. The rendered front may not fully showcase the house's merits, which are better appreciated from the south.
