Description
Nos. 50 and 52 on Church Street are two houses built around 1600. They were underbuilt, refaced, and had their eaves raised in the early 19th century, with additional changes made in the mid- to late-19th century. The buildings feature a pebble-dashed timber frame and slate roofs. The left side has two framed bays and is two storeys high, while the right side has a later framed bay above a former carriageway and is three storeys high. There is a 20th-century stack at the front, slightly off-centre to the right. The left-hand block has a two-window front with late 20th-century casements and a 20th-century glazed door on the right side. The right-hand block, dating from the late 19th century, has one two-light casement on both the first and second floors, with the former carriageway beneath. Inside, there is evidence of a former first-floor jetty in the left-hand block, which was underbuilt during alterations, likely in the early 19th century. The buildings are included for their concealed construction.
