Description
No. 43 Church Street is a house that has been used as a shop and is now offices. It likely dates from the 17th century but was refaced and had its eaves raised in the late 18th century. The building features a rendered timber frame and a slate roof, and it is probably composed of two framed bays. It stands three storeys tall with a stack located behind the ridge to the right. The framing consists of square panels that are concealed. The front has two windows with glazing bar sashes and flush boxes.
To the right, there is a projecting square bay from the mid- to late-19th century, which includes an 8-pane shop window and a door to the left. The door has six raised and fielded panels and a rectangular overlight above it. A pentice slate roof extends from this bay to form a bracketed porch over a six-panelled door, which has the bottom two panels flush. This door is off-centre to the right and features a rectangular overlight, plain architrave, and a bracketed hood. The building is included for its group value.
