Description
No. 37 High Street is a house that has been converted into an office. It dates from the 17th century but was underbuilt, refaced, and had its eaves raised in the late 19th century. The building features a roughcast timber frame and a slate roof, consisting of two framed bays and two storeys. On the left side, there is an integral brick end stack, and another brick end stack is located behind the ridge to the left. The first floor has three sash windows, each with two and three segmental-arched lights. The late 19th-century cast iron shop front is delicately detailed, featuring two large plate glass windows on either side of a central recessed half-glazed door, which has a rectangular overlight. To the right, there is a six-panelled door with a rectangular overlight. Inside, there are substantial remains of the timber frame, and there may have been a former first floor jetty that was underbuilt during the 19th-century alterations. The building is included for its group value.
