Description
The Vaults is a house that has been converted into an inn, dating from the mid- to late-19th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and has a stuccoed front with a slate roof. The building has a basement, two storeys, and a gable-lit attic. There is an integral end stack on the right with a brick top stage, a semi-integral brick end stack on the left, and 20th-century roof lights. The front has three windows with sashes that do not have glazing bars. On the ground floor, there are three flat-topped canted bays, with two on the right that have tall bases due to the slope of the site. Between the first and second windows from the left, there are two half-glazed doors that have three-part rectangular overlights and pilastered surrounds with a frieze and cornice. The building is included for its group value.
