Description
1 and 2 Castle Gates is a shop that was originally a pair of houses, built in the late 17th to early 18th century. The building features painted brick over a timber frame and has a plain tiled roof. It stands two storeys tall with an attic and has a four-window range. The front has two early 20th-century shop fronts, which include fascias with console brackets and a passageway to the right. Above the shop fronts are 12-pane sash windows with flat-arched brick heads. The side wall displays thin square panelled framing. The roof has two gabled dormers and there is an axial stack.
