Description
72 and 73 Mardol is a pair of shops that may have originally been dwellings, dating from the early 18th century and built in two phases. The building is constructed of painted brick and features a plain tiled roof. It stands three storeys high and has a five-window range, which is unevenly divided between the two units (four windows for one and one for the other). The shop fronts were inserted in the late 20th century. Above the shop fronts, there are flush-framed 12-pane sash windows, with wider 4-pane sashes at No. 73, all featuring flat-arched gauged brick heads. The building has a modillion eaves cornice that supports the overhanging roof and includes three gabled dormers. There is a gable end stack on the right-hand side.
