Description
The Castle Vaults Public House is a public house dated 1829, located on the east side of Castle Gates in Shrewsbury. It is constructed of stucco and features a Welsh slate roof. The building has four storeys and a two-window range. A round-arched doorway is positioned to the right, with inserted sash windows of 9 and 12 panes alongside it. The upper storeys are divided into two bays by pilaster strips, with the left bay highlighted by a Venetian window on the first floor and round-arched sashes above, all set within a continuous stressed architrave that ends in a segmental projection inscribed with the date. The right bay contains 4-pane sashes. There is an axial stack. The building is included for its group value.
