Description
The Black Horse Public House is a public house located in Barnard Castle, dating from the late 18th century and late 19th century, with the possibility of incorporating earlier materials. The exterior features painted incised stucco, a painted plinth, and ashlar dressings, topped with a roof of Welsh slate and yellow brick chimneys. The building stands three storeys high and has a two-window range. It has a plain stone surround with impost bands and a plain cornice above a central renewed six-panel door. The full-height canted bay windows are adorned with stone sill and floor bands, housing four-pane sashes. An eaves band and shallow parapet extend around the canted bays, and the roof is finished with corniced end chimneys. The interior has not been inspected.
