Description
Nos. 3, 3A, 3B, and 3C in Market Place is a house that has been converted into a shop and flats, dating from around 1740. The building is made of coursed squared stone with ashlar quoins and painted dressings, topped with a roof of stone slates that features stone gable coping and stone chimneys. It has an L-shaped plan with a long rear wing and stands three storeys tall with a three-window range.
The entrance is located on the right side and features a plain stone surround leading to a low passage with a partly glazed 20th-century door and a plain overlight. A late 19th-century shop front projects in a shallow square bay, which includes a recessed central entrance, plate glass windows, slender mullions, and a simple entablature. Above the shop front, there are architraves to plain sashes, which are of the same height on each floor, and a sill band on the first floor. The roof has gable copings on moulded kneelers and end chimneys, while the passage has boarded walls.
